And so you are going abroad; and when do you return?

I left the United States at 10:40am on Monday from Mosinee. This was the first time I had flown through Chicago on my way overseas (I usually go through Detroit) so I was kinda eh about it. My gates were pretty close to each other, so I had quite a bit of time to pass. I noticed a Caps fan sitting across from me and there was a silent stand-off. After a few minutes, he got up and left. I never saw him again. I'd like to think I won that duel. :)

The flight to Frankfurt wasn't too bad. They promoted me up to Economy Plus, which meant I had two extra inches of leg room. Woo! The food was bad as usual and, because I was flying United, I didn't have much options for movies. I watched Wall-E for the first time. I had never seen it because it came out last summer and was dubbed in Norwegian. It was adorable. I sat next to a German flute-player. He was really quiet, so I didn't talk to him. But it was the first time I haven't sat by an old man. That was a nice change. My first sign of going to Europe was the guy sitting diagonally in front of me. I'm a big hair person and absolutely adore Scandinavian men's hair. It's hard to explain without a picture, but I couldn't find any good ones online. I will hopefully add one soon so everyone understands what I'm talking about. But, basically, American guys use gel to flatten their hair and use way too much of it (which means it's obvious that it's in their hair). Norwegian guys (and other Scandinavians) use styling gel to slightly spike their hair, but it's not obvious that they've used gel (it looks soft, not hard). So, the guy sitting in the row in front of me totally had the hair plus a Wisconsin hockey shirt on. Perfect combination.

My layover in Frankfurt was insane. Five and a half hours doing absolutely nothing. And the best part? My luggage still didn't make it on the plane to Stavanger! Luckily, another plane from Frankfurt was coming in at midnight and they sent my luggage on that one. It was very stressful because I lost my luggage claim tickets and they almost didn't let me have the bags. However, this is Norway and they don't even have passport control and have optional customs. Haha.

I haven't done much since getting here. We are watching one cat for a family we know as well as three other ones at different people's houses. That's basically all I've done. I've been sick for a day or so, but I'm feeling better.

My paperwork from Auckland hasn't shown up yet. It's pretty annoying because my visa paperwork can't be sent in until I get it. Hopefully, it comes sometime this next week. I want to get the visa done so I can visit friends. It also would be nice to register for classes, which I can't yet. Oh well.
